Can you fall asleep during MRI?

What is an MRI?

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It's a big machine that doctors use to look inside your body!

Before the MRI

Before you go into the MRI machine, you'll get comfy clothes to wear and a place to lie down.

The MRI Room

The MRI room has a large tube. That's where you'll go in to have your picture taken by the machine!

Can You Sleep?

Yes, you can fall asleep during an MRI! The machine is just taking pictures, and it's okay to nap.

MRIs make loud noises, like knocking or buzzing. It sounds weird, but it's normal.

What Does It Sound Like?

It's okay to feel a bit scared. You can squeeze a special ball to let someone know if you need anything.

How to Relax

Time in the Machine

The MRI can take a while, from a few minutes to over an hour. Enough time for a short sleep!

To get the best pictures, you need to stay very still. Sleeping actually helps with that!
