Can you talk during MRI?

What's an MRI?

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It’s like a giant camera that takes pictures of the inside of your body!

Getting Ready for an MRI

Before the scan, you'll lie down on a sliding bed that goes into the MRI machine.

Inside the MRI Machine

It's a large tube that’s open on both ends. You need to lie very still inside it.

Can You Talk?

Usually, it's best to stay quiet to get clear images. But if you need to speak, you can!

There’s a microphone inside the machine. Just speak normally if you have to.

Using a Microphone

If you feel uncomfortable or need something, you can always let the technician know.

When You Might Need to Talk

Listening to the Technician

The technician might ask you to hold your breath or change positions. Listen carefully!

What You Hear

The machine makes loud tapping sounds. Don't worry; it's just doing its job.

If talking relaxes you, discuss it with your technician before starting.
