What Happens When You Get a Nosebleed?

Inside Your Nose

Your nose has lots of tiny blood vessels that can break easily.

Tiny Vessels, Big Bleeds

When these small vessels break, blood comes out of your nose.

What Causes the Break?

Picking your nose, a bump, or even dry air can cause a bleed.

Pinch your nose right under the bony part and tilt your head forward.

First Steps to Take

Sit down and breathe through your mouth. Stay calm and don't lie down.

Keep Calm

Time Matters

Keep pinching for about 5 to 10 minutes. The bleeding usually stops.

Ice It

Applying a cold pack on your nose can help too!

If your nose keeps bleeding a lot or you feel very dizzy, tell an adult.
