We have Open MRI Machines for such Claustrophobic Patients.
Does an MRI show anxiety?
MRIs show common structural abnormalities among patients with depression and anxiety. Magnetic resonance images have shown a common pattern of structural abnormalities in the brains of people with major depression disorder (MDD) and social anxiety disorder (SAD).
Can MRI detect abnormalities?
MRI can be used to detect brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, developmental anomalies, multiple sclerosis, stroke, dementia, infection, and the causes of headaches.
What can an MRI diagnose?

Why is contrast important in MRI?
MRI with contrast is superior at measuring and assessing tumors. Contrast helps detect even the smallest tumors, giving the surgeon more clarity regarding the location and size of the tumor and other tissues involved. MRI images with contrast are clearer and better quality than the images without contrast.
How does an MRI with contrast work?
A dye (contrast agent) may be injected into your bloodstream to enhance certain tissues. The dye contains gadolinium, which has magnetic properties. It circulates through the bloodstream and is absorbed in certain tissues, which then stand out on the scan.
How long does an MRI with contrast take?
If you require a contrast dye MRI, your procedure may take up to 90 minutes
Why do I feel weird after an MRI?

They may also cause peripheral muscle or nerve stimulation that may feel like a twitching sensation. The radiofrequency energy used during the MRI scan could lead to heating of the body.
Does your whole body go in for an MRI?
Your whole body does not go in the machine, only the half or part that needs to be scanned. One thing you’ll need to know is that the machine is noisy. It makes a lot of different noises, and some of them are extremely loud. Some patients say it sounds like a sledgehammer.
Why metals are not allowed in MRI scans?
The presence of metal can be a serious problem in MRI, because
(1) Magnetic metals can experience a force in the scanner,
(2) Long wires (such as in pacemakers) can result in induced currents and heating from the RF magnetic field and
(3) Metals cause the static (B0) magnetic field to be inhomogeneous, causing severe.

Is an MRI with contrast and MRA the same?
MRI scan is done to look at the structure of the Brain or Spinal cord.
In some cases, certain abnormalities may be enhanced by administering intravenous contrast agents like Gadolinium. It’s then referred to as a contrast-enhanced MRI scan.
Typical lesions that may enhance with contrast include tumors such as meningioma, infections of the brain and meninges ( meningoencephalitis ), tuberculosis of the brain, and vascular malformation.
MRA is actually an angiographic technique done on an MRI machine. It’s called Magnetic Resonance Angiogram. It’s an MRI protocol done to delineate the blood vessels in the cranial cavity. Contrast is not usually administered but in select cases, a contrast-enhanced angiogram also can be done.
Are there health risks to having an MRI scan?
With a trained professional radiologist, an MRI scan is not normally harmful, But while it is relatively safe due to its lack of radiation, there are some risks that need to be taken into consideration before an MRI scan.
Do MRI scans have radiation?
No, MRI scans, don’t have radiation, Because radiation is not used, there is no risk of exposure to radiation during an MRI procedure. However, due to the use of the strong magnet, MRI cannot be performed on patients with Implanted pacemakers.
Why MRI Scans are Too Expensive?
The cost for an MRI scan reflects the cost of the equipment, quality itself the cost of the ‘buildout’, the cost of the technician who operates the machine, the cost of the annual maintenance needed for the machine in case it breaks down and keeps it ‘tuned’ and cost of the time and expertise of the physician who interprets the scan, and his/her practice insurance, the cost of the physicist needed to periodically examine and test the machine, the cost of intravenous contrast material needed for many scans, and many other factors. The reimbursement offered by many managed care plans does not even come close to covering these costs, much less providing any profit.
Can you wear a bra in an MRI Scan?
No, Patients Can’t Wear. This is because they can interfere with the magnetic field and could possibly interfere with the test results. However, remember that you can always ask your doctor or better yet ask the person who will perform the MRI scan if it is alright to wear your bra during their exam.
You must take off your bra and wear something tied over your chest in a tight-fitting hospital gown. You will then present your bare chest to the MRI machine.
