You will be asked to remove any metallic objects that you are wearing, such as jewelry, watches, or hair clips.
You will be asked to lie down on a table that is part of the MRI machine. The table will move into the MRI machine, which is a large, tube-shaped machine.
You will be given headphones or earplugs to wear to help reduce the loud noises that the MRI machine makes during the scan.
You may be given an injection of contrast material, which helps to highlight certain structures in the brain and improve the accuracy of the images.
During the scan, the MRI machine will produce loud noises, but you will be able to communicate with the technologist through a microphone. It is important to lie still and follow the technologist’s instructions during the scan.
