Does your whole body go into the machine for a brain MRI?

Does your whole body go into the machine for a brain MRI? During a brain MRI, only your head and neck will be inside the MRI machine. The rest of your body will be outside of the machine. You will be lying on a table that is part of the MRI machine, and your head will be placed in a padded holder to help keep it still during the scan.

The MRI machine is a large, tube-shaped machine that produces detailed images of the brain and surrounding structures using a strong magnetic field and radio waves. The MRI machine is usually open at both ends, so you will not feel confined or claustrophobic during the scan.

It is important to lie still and follow the technologist’s instructions during the scan to ensure the best possible images are obtained. The scan usually takes 30-60 minutes. After the scan, you will be able to resume your normal activities.
